I suspect Dean is one of the Brickwork industries biggest unsung heroes.

I've known Dean for over 20 years, and he and Swift Brickwork have always been great supporters of brickwork competitions for all learners and apprentices, especially the competitions I coordinate.  

His commitment to events has been longstanding and whether it has been direct sponsorship through the supply of materials, giving his time and expertise to judge or just ensuring all in attendance can enjoy a lovely lunch.

Dean has spent decades developing and maintaining the highly regarded Swift Brickwork Apprenticeship programme, striving to always improve the quality of provision with provider partners. There are countless bricklayers who are plying their craft or leading their own projects across the UK who owe their successful start in bricklaying to Dean and his focus on quality of experience and support.

 A funny story that still makes me laugh. Dean judged a competition at Barking and Dagenham college many years ago but had a black-tie event to attend after. He asked if he could use our bathroom to change, and when Dean walked into the awards room one of the Plumbing judges said ' Are all judges required to dress like him?' of course I said.

Dean Degun continues to influence and shape the opportunities for so many today. He is a real inspirational figure in our sector.
